| The original camera station was from the bed of a truck. Off-road vehicle restrictions on the Nevada Test Site do not allow us to drive trucks to Beatley’s plots, so the camera station is lower than the original camera station. The increase in shrub density and biomass in the permanent plot is unmistakable. In particular, long-lived species have increased in cover and density in the plot. Two individuals of Larrea tridentata (creosote bush) are much larger than in 1963. Remeasurement of Beatley’s plot has quantitatively documented what is easily seen with the paired photographs.
