As with the previous match, the camera station is too low but the changes are striking. The density and biomass of perennial shrubs has increased. Most striking is the size of the scattered Larrea individuals in the view, but other long-lived shrubs have become established and are relatively large. Mature Yucca brevifolia (Joshua tree) have died in the right background, and other Yuccas that may have been alive in 1964 are becoming apparent nearby. This change cannot be measured in the permanent plot, which has no Yuccas in it. (Robert H. Webb)
