None of the trampled plants survived, probably because the 1927 photograph was taken in the early days of Wahmonie’s life. Now, most of the shrubs present are Hymenoclea salsola (cheesebush), Ericameria cooperi (Cooper’s goldenbush), and Ephedra, with scattered Larrea individuals. The vegetation that occupies the former streets and avenues of Wahmonie remains considerably different from the surrounding vegetation. (Robert H. Webb) |
