This photograph, taken near the end of the short life of Wahmonie, shows the residents expected a temporary stay. The view is easterly across the main part of the townsite. Most of the structures in this view are tents, most likely with wooden bases. Vehicles had completely replaced burros in a miner’s life by the late 1920s, and vehicles were ones of the primary means that vegetation was cleared from the streets and avenues (photographer unknown, courtesy of the Nevada Historical Society, Nye 576) |
