The roof blew off of the Skidoo mill sometime between 1986 and 1999. Otherwise, there is little change to the scene, especially in the foreground vegetation. Two small Coleogyne have died at right center, and a new Hymenoclea salsola (cheesebush) appears on the right, but otherwise little change has occurred. Stable ecosystems comprised mainly of long-lived species such as Coleogyne are little affected by the high climatic variability as expressed by the 1980s and 1990s. (Dominic Oldershaw)
