In 1960, Skidoo townsite was an obscure tourist destination. As shown in this view of the former mining headquarters, most of the wooden buildings abandoned in 1916 were still on the hilltop to the northwest of the townsite. Adits dot the hillside where miners attempted to find more rich ore bodies; the main sources of ore were on the far side of the mining headquarters and to the left. The Skidoo mill, which also was the end of the Skidoo pipeline, appears at far right. The foreground vegetation is dominated by Coleogyne ramosissima (blackbrush) with about 10 other species present.
