| Most of the plants visible in 1916 remain, although 2 of the smaller Coleogyne individuals died between 1986 and 1999. These deaths may have occurred during the 1989 drought. Wetter conditions more recently increased the visibility of Stanleya, and its flower stalks are obvious throughout the area behind the foreground plants. Skidoo townsite, the subject of the original view, appears to be completely recovered from this vantage point. Without the original photograph, it would be difficult for a casual observer to know that a town once thrived in this valley. (Dominic Oldershaw) | ||
