Renoville, California, was a small town built around a store on what became California Highway 127 between Baker and Shoshone. Built near Silurian Dry Lake, the town had a long enough tenure to appear as a place-name on USGS topographic maps. In 1981, nothing remained of the townsite, and levees (not visible) designed to divert runoff away from the highway and into distinct channels dissected the midground of this view. The vegetation is primarily Larrea tridentata and Ambrosia dumosa (creosote bush and white bursage). (Robert H. Webb) |
