Greenwater townsite was nearly abandoned in 1908 when this photograph was taken. The wooden buildings shown here were dismantled and moved to other mining towns or used for mine construction. Greenwater was not reoccupied after 1908. As this view shows, all vegetation was cleared from between the buildings in this part of the townsite, and the soil was heavily compacted.
