Several bulldozer trenches were dug for nitrates
in the Tecopa Lake Beds in 1944. The top photo shows one of the
bulldozer trenches to the left of one of Noble's earlier trenches.
The depth of this and other bulldozer trenches was never reported;
therefore, it is not possible to determine an erosion recoverability
rate for these features. However, the bottom photo shows that
the sides of the bulldozer trench have been rounded by erosion
during the last 55 years and that the lake beds have begun to
recover from the trenching operation. ![]() ![]() |
