The top photo below illustrates a large fault scarp in the China Ranch Beds as it appeared in March 1985. Note that the Amargosa River is undercutting the fault scarp in the lower left corner of the photo. The bottom photo below is the same fault scarp as it appeared in January 1998. These photos illustrate that there was little to no evidence of erosion of the fault scarp or the river bank during the 13 year period from 1985 to 1998.
